Imperative Energy Ltd (IEL) was founded in 2007 to supply renewable energy (heat, steam and electricity) generated from biomass fuel to clients in the industrial, commercial and public sectors through purposely designed plant located at the client’s site.
Imperative Energy is a leading supplier in Biomass Boilers, biomass heating solutions in the UK and Ireland.
The key milestones in the company’s history 2007-2010 are:
Q4 2009 Imperative Energy Limited commissions its 3rd biomass Energy Supply Contract with a Aura Leisure Centre Group. The system is fully operational since Q4 2009 and operates on Wood chip.
Q4 2008 IEL is awarded its 3rd biomass ESCO contract with a Cork local authority, confirming its leadership position in this space.
Q2 2008 IEL is awarded the contract for the supply and installation of the largest biomass heating system to date in the public sector in UK & Ireland at the Downshire Hospital in Belfast.
Q1 2008 Exclusive technology and product supply agreement for UK & Ireland signed with Schmid (Switzerland), and a close strategic partnership on engineering design for large-scale Biomass CHP projects formed with BIOS (Austria), both industry leaders in their respective areas of bioenergy.
Q4 2007 IEL secures Ireland’s first long term biomass energy supply contract (ESCO) with Donegal VEC – the installation is launched by Minister Mary Coughlan TD, now Tanaiste (Deputy Prime Minister) of Ireland.
Q2 2007 Exclusive supply agreement for woodchip signed with Green Belt, the largest private forestry management firm in Ireland. The 15-year supply agreement provides a guarantee for high quality virgin wood fuel supply which is sufficient to cover all of IEL’s projected thermal energy sales.

Q3 2007 Eamon Ryan, Irish Government Minister for Communications, Energy & Natural Resources formally launches the company in Dublin.
